BACK TO SCHOOL THEATER PROGRAM 2020
IS NOW OPEN FOR REGISTRATION!
MUCH INFO BELOW, OR CLICK HERE TO REGISTER!
COVID-19 SAFETY MEASURES:
Per the State of CT current guidelines, we will be implementing the following safety precautions:
- Enrollment will be capped at 25 participants.
- All Staff will be required to wear masks at all times
- All participants will bring masks. They are to be worn whenever we are in transit from one room or location to another, or when social distancing is challenging (we know it will be hard for the smaller children to stay apart when not on their assigned spots). Children may wear masks all day, but it is not required. This is per state guidelines.
- Temperature will be taken for staff and children upon entry each rehearsal at drop-off, via state-provided infrared thermometer. If a child or staff member exhibits a fever or other symptoms, they will not be admitted into the program for that day, and will not return until their fever/symptoms have subsided. We ask that the adult dropping off please wait in the parking lot until after the temperature check has been completed (it will be a quick process).
- If a child or staff member begins to exhibit symptoms or a fever during program hours, they will be taken to a separate room in the church to wait for a parent to pick them up.
- Most rehearsals will take place outdoors, weather permitting.
- The performances will be filmed like a movie to allow for the large ensemble numbers to be spaced out, and so that we can film with small groups at a time.
About the Program:
Fairfield Summer Stage, an immersive musical theatre education program, will present its annual “Back to School” Session this fall. Featuring a professional staff and participants grades 1-10 from Fairfield County, Back to School will start rehearsals for ANNIE WARBUCKS on September 12th and rehearse Tuesdays and Saturdays through November 7th at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church in downtown Fairfield (661 Old Post Rd).
What:
We will audition for, rehearse, and perform the show ANNIE WARBUCKS over the span of 8 weeks. In accordance with CDC guidelines, we will be limiting enrollment to 25 participants. We will also be rehearsing outdoors (weather permitting) and doing temperature screenings upon arrival. Regular hand washing and mask wearing (while indoors or when social distancing is not possible) will also be enforced. The performances will be filmed and livestreamed for the audience so that everyone can watch the show from the comfort and safety of their own homes (the video will broadcast no later than Nov 23, and families will have a couple weeks to access it).
When/Where:
Students will rehearse the show Tuesdays 5-6:30pm and Saturdays 10am-1pm at St. Paul’s Episcopal Church. They will audition for and be assigned roles on the first day. Participants are welcome to join for every rehearsal, but are only required to attend the days for which their character is called. About the Program:
Fairfield Summer Stage is a comprehensive immersive theatre experience for young actors, supported by a professional creative staff of directors and designers in downtown Fairfield, CT. During a 8-week session, we will mount a full production of a musical, starting with the initial audition and followed by a rehearsal process, culminating in an exciting performance where family and friends can enjoy your hard work from the audience. No previous experience required!
About the Show: Annie Warbucks, Directed by Christy McIntosh Newsom: All the ingredients that made Annie so successful are here once again, with an old-fashioned romance thrown in for good measure, in Annie Warbucks! Tony Award winners, Thomas Meehan, Charles Strouse and Martin Charnin, return with all new laughs, romance and unforgettable songs.
The action picks up right where Annie leaves off, when Child Welfare Commissioner Harriet Doyle arrives on the scene to inform Daddy Warbucks that he must marry within 60 days so that the newly adopted Annie can have a proper mother. In the end, Daddy Warbucks' whirlwind search for a fitting bride uncovers not only a plot by Doyle and her daughter to strip him of his fortune, but also his true feelings for Grace Farrell.
Age Requirement: The program is open to children entering grades 1-10 in the fall of 2020.
There are a limited number of slots filled on a first come first serve basis. If your registration exceeds the maximum number of slots, any payment will be refunded.
Medical/Liability forms: Standard medical & liability forms (emergency contact, medical info) are required, blank forms will be sent to you after registration and must be completed before the child can attend the program.
